Making Disciples - from PAKISTAN to MALAYSIA

Disciplers International Convocation in Pakistan- January 2026

By the grace of God, we successfully conducted our first DI Convocation in January 2026. This was a significant milestone, because it celebrated the growth and commitment of Disciples who completed the Step-by-Step Discipleship Training Process. The convocation was a powerful time of encouragement, recognition, and spiritual impartation. During the training sessions we focused on the following topics, which are key and essential to the Step-by-Step Process: 1) Prayer of Commitment; 2) Spiritual Intimacy; 3) Guide to Worship; 4) Five Spiritual Disciplines; 5) Roman Road.

Graduation is important!

Those who complete the Step-by-Step Process are presented with a certificate. The overall impact was significant and meaningful with Disciples experiencing spiritual intimacy with God and each other. Several were moved to tears as they encountered God while learning how to take an “Imaginary Journey” (goal is to focus on God and prepare for worship).

My wife, Lubna, and I presented an overview of Disciplers International and managed our mission trip to Malaysia. An important part of the trip were DI Vision Casting meetings that we conducted in local churches. During those meetings we met with church leaders to introduce the DI Mission and Vision and inform them on the structure and process of Step-by-Step Training. We were very encouraged by the strong fellowship and unity that we experienced in the body of Christ. I am pleased to say that God is opening doors for discipleship expansion in Malaysia.

DI Vision-Casting gathering at a local church in Malaysia

Pakistani Church in Malaysia

We were warmly welcomed by Pastor Saddique and members of his church leadership team and congregation. During the Sunday service we shared about the importance of discipleship training and spiritual intimacy with God and one another. We believe that the seeds sown will produce lasting fruit in the lives of believers.

Malaysian Church

Pastor David Thang is a faithful and humble servant of God. During our visit we gave a full DI presentation to David and his wife in their home. We also led a vision-sharing session with a practical demonstration that was well received. Lubna and I are greatly encouraged by their desire to participate by going through Step-by-Step Training.

We were glad to meet two delightful young ladies, who are Spirit-filled and passionate about discipleship. Lubna and I were blessed to spend extended time sharing the DI vision for discipleship with them. They responded positively and expressed willingness to support the ministry and bring many young people from their church for training.

This mission trip from Pakistan to Malaysia has encouraged us greatly and, we believe has encouraged greatly those whom we served as well. We give all glory to God for His faithfulness and we remain fully committed to advancing the Great Commission until the Lord returns.

Bart Physioc

Bart’s interest in discipleship began at the time of his conversion in 1978, while serving in Guam as a Coast Guard officer. After reading the four gospels in the New Testament, Bart was moved to accept Jesus as Savior and follow Him as Lord. He wanted to be a disciple, but didn’t understand how discipleship was supposed to work, and no one took the initiative to mentor him. Bart’s early discipleship experience was limited to reading books on the subject and going through study guides. Although examples were evident throughout Scripture, but Bart did not have such an experience personally.

While attending Golden Gate Theological Seminary in California, Bart took several courses on discipleship. From those classes, he took the most useful and practical elements of each model and produced a guidebook of his own that was comprehensive in scope, yet concise in presentation. After graduating in 1983 with a Master of Religious Education degree, Bart spent three years developing a discipleship model specifically for college students at the University of Idaho, where he served as Campus Minister. Upon returning to Golden Gate Seminary for his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees, Bart tailored the discipleship model for church plants and then instituted that model in the church he planted and pastored in California. As an Army Chaplain, Bart used the Discipler/Disciple model which led many service members to Christ and provided new believers with a set of tools to disciple others.

Convinced that disciple-making requires a relationship between a mentor (“Discipler”) and learner (“Disciple”), Bart created the 14-Step Discipleship Process, which was launched in 2000 and has been used worldwide to grow Disciples of Christ into Disciplers for Christ. In 2022 he launched a new presentation of the discipleship process called Step-by-Step.

While still serving in the military, Bart helped to establish Disciplers International in 2006 to provide free Discipleship Resources and Training for all who follow Jesus, and obey His call to “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19).
