Imagine your parents or employer saying, "You must be perfect." How might you react or respond? Yet, according to the ESV translation, this is what Jesus expects of us. However, "be" is actually a future tense verb, meaning that a literal translation would read, "You will be perfect." Is Jesus giving a command or making a statement?
